French Ship in a Box Diorama

1900 - 1920
Description

This handsome original French ship in a box diorama which has been lovingly handmade in wood is of beautiful quality with wonderful detail, dates from the beginning of the 20th century and is encased in a glass fronted wooden box.

This piece came from Nantes in France so most likely features a sailing ship from that area. The ship has wonderful detail including carved wooden and painted sails, rigging and a dramatic painted sky.

This unusual piece is a fascinating piece of folk art that looks very nice displayed on a shelf and makes a great talking piece.

Condition: Nice original condition with age related wear and marks. A couple of pieces have come loose in the frame but I have left it how it was as I did not want to open the back.

Please note that only the diorama is included and any other items in the pictures are for display only.
