Exquisite English Victorian Burl Walnut Gloves Box - Tulipwood Cross-banding

Description

A truly wonderful glove box, perfect for a smaller jewelry box or desk-top accessory. Made from exquisite Burl Walnut with it's wonderful figuring and warm cognac colour, the box is cross-banded in Tulipwood with a black ebonised edging.

The top is inset with a tablet of Mother of Pearl of Nacre shell engraved "Gloves". The interior has been relined in a vibrant green hand-marbled paper, nice and clean and ready for use. Complete with a tasselled working key, the box is in superb condition and measuring 10 1/2" long x 4" deep x 2 3/4" tall. Dates to c.1850.
