Loveday Antiques has dated this piece to the Regency era.
English Circa 1825.
Supported on splay shaped legs surmounted by fan carved brackets with the whole being raised on brass and leather wheeled castors.

A fine example of Gillows famous ‘Spanish’ armchair with a particularly good choice of timber. Reupholstered by our workshop in a traditional manner with shallow tuffs. Gillows ‘Spanish’ chair was a very elegant and contemporary chair of its time. Gillows cleverly designed the fan spandrel-like brackets to the underside of the chair hiding their true function which was to strengthen the seat frame.
