Antique United States Watch Co full hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a seven jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The nicely patterned plates are signed ‘US Watch Company, Waltham, Mass, new watch company at Waltham, est 1885’. The movement also carries the serial number 701098 which dates it back to between 1885 and 1903.

The United States Watch Company was originally the Waltham Watch Tool Company but changed their name in 1885. The original plan was to call the company the Waltham Watch Company but the American Waltham Watch Company, better known today as Waltham, took out a lawsuit to prevent the name being registered.

The movement is all protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is stamped Royal B&B which is the Royal gold filled model from Bates & Bacon. The case is beautifully decorated and it is in lovely condition.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, the glass lens is in lovely condition.

The signed dial has damage to the edge between 4 and 5, and a few hairline cracks, most of which are faint. Lever set hands.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
