Description
Unusual Barrel shaped hallmarked solid silver 1/2 pint tankard or christening mug. Top quality from a well known and collected maker. Full Birmingham hallmark with the date letter for 1917 and the makers mark for Mappin & Webb Ltd. The makers name is also stamped to the base. Barrel shaped body which has light facet sides to give the impression of being octagonal with domed rings to the top and bottom and a good size Georgian style handle. Stands 3 3/8 inches 8.5 cm tall, 2 1/2 inches 6.4 cm in diameter at the top rim and 3 3/4 inches 9.5 cm handle to rim. The silver weight is 141.8 grams Excellent condition, no damage or repairs. Minor surface marks from age and use as you'd expect. Apologies for any reflections in the pictures, these are not marks in the silver. No engraving to any part of the mug. Will be delivered in a tissue lined gift box. Happy to answer any questions.
