Antique silver half hunter pocket watch, 1912.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, with nicely patterned plates, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a little unevenness and scratching.

The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is hallmarked for London (import mark), 1912, and there is also a sponsor’s mark for Charles Nicolet, a partner of London branch of the Swiss firm of Stauffer, Son & Co. of La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Examination of the watch tells us that the movement and case are not original to each other, but probably of the same period.

The front cover has a small central lens surrounded by enamel filled Roman numerals. The front cover has a small indentation towards the edge, while the back has general light surface marks and a few small shallow indentations.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is a glass lens which has light marking from an old sticky label.

The dial is signed with the name of the original retailer, A Bolt & Co, Wimbledon. There are a couple of short hairline cracks radiating from the centre but they are quite faint. Lever set hands. The watch has the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
