Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian mahogany side tables were crafted during the reign of Queen Victoria (18371901), characterised by dark, polished timber, turned leg supports, and shaped or moulded tops. These versatile pieces provided functional surface space in 19th-century living spaces.

Constructed predominantly from solid mahogany and rich mahogany veneers, these tables feature traditional cabinetmaking details such as dovetail drawer joints and turned upright columns. Trestle bases connected by turned stretchers were commonly utilized for structural stability.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joinery inside the drawers, age-appropriate timber wear, and a natural surface patina developed over time. Examining the undersides reveals historical hand-tooling marks and original fixings.

A Victorian side table works effectively as an accent piece next to a contemporary armchair, as a compact bedside nightstand, or in an entryway beneath a framed mirror. The warm mahogany tones provide natural balance against modern neutral wall colours.

Dust the wood surface regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply high-quality beeswax polish along the grain to nourish the timber. Position the table away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage or finish discoloration.
