Description

Six Teke Turkmen 'guls' (tribal-crests) dominate the beautiful, glowing madder-red ground of this torba (small personal belongings bag), made during the early-mid 19th century. The guls are nicely spaced throughout the field, interspersed with minor guls. Note the one gul lower-centre, highlighted in a light-blue whereas the other five are highlighted in deep indigo-blue. The torba is in excellent condition with no repairs - only some loss of the outer red side borders but secured with new selvedges as in the original colour.

A beautiful and highly collectable torba.
