Matthew Boulton Large Old Sheffield Plated Warming Tureen

Description

A very large and impressive lidded serving tureen on warming stand made of Old Sheffield Plate. Dating to c1820, the piece is crested twice to the lid for a lion rampant. Both the tureen base and the warming stand are marked with the two star mark of highly respected maker Matthew Boulton. A wonderful example of craftsmanship and quality.

In good condition this piece has slight signs of wear and use.

Weight approx 4.5kg.

Tureen measures approx 34cm x 26.5cm.

Length of warmer from handle to handle approx 36cm.

Height to top of handle approx 20cm.
