This is a small antique tanner's chair. An English, ash and elm spindle back countryhouse craftsman's seat, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.

Delightfully diminutive work seat

Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order

Ash and elm show fine grain interest throughout

Rich caramel hues beam beneath a wax polish finish

Spindle back of square proportion with three turned balusters

Seat base with gently rolled edges, meeting cylindrical knees over shaped front apron

Tapering spindle legs to front with dashing turned stretcher, standing upon pad feet

Pair of cylindrical feet at rear, united by sets of stretcher bars

This is a charming antique tanner's chair, of compact proportion and attractive figuring to the stocks of ash and elm. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready to enjoy.
