Description
A superb early Victorian silver Vinaigrette. with wavy decoration to the front and the back and monogrammed with initials on the lid. When opened this lovely vinaigrette reveals a most attractive grill unusually decorated with quill pens, book and flowers. This grill is hinged to one side to allow for opening. The interior of the box is completely gilded. Clear hallmarks are visible on the underneath of the lid and the interior base for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1838 and silver maker's mark: Joseph Willmore. It also bears a silver mark for William IV. The hinge to the grill works well and the lid closes perfectly.
