This very good armorial and crested quality George II silver kettle on stand was made in London in 1736 by Richard Bayley and measures 14 inches with handle raised by 9.25 inches handle to spout and approx 7 inches at its widest. It is beautifully engraved around the top border leading up to the lid that it marked to the inside with a lion passant, the lid has a flush hinge with the lid being engraved to the outer edge also. The cast spout as a graduated drop detail below and a turned lip above the spout, the hinged and cast handle is double scrolled and leather bound and the detachable base is cast and has scrolled arms and raised feet with the burner and lid being crested to match the body and marked below with the makers mark and the kettle having a coat of arms to one side inside a florid cartouche with an urn of flowers above it and the same cartouche to the other side holding a crest. A super piece of silver of lovely quality weighing 76.70 ounces or 2386 grams.
