Early C19th George IV period carved rosewood jardiniere stand or crocus table in the manner of Thomas King .
Interesting carved figured rosewood pedestal table raised on a triangular concave-sided platform base on compressed bun feet .
The highly figured and well-carved tapering column supporting a campana-style shallow turned rosewood dished bowl fitted with a flat removable lid enclosing a hollow interior to display flowers or crocuses . The bowl with a carved edge , the fitted lid with a carved central ‘finger-grip’ to aid removable .
A rare form of jardiniere table or flower-stand in excellent original condition with a rich colour and patina.
Further tables of this type and design have been attributed to the cabinet-maker Thomas King (1790-1835) “Modern Style of Cabinet Works Exemplified” published 1829.
