Charles James Lauder RSW 1840-1920.Glasgow born painter of watercolours;figurative subjects,wild flowers and architectural views.Studied art at Glasgow School of Design under Heath Wilson.Exhibited at the main London galleries from 1890 ,after settling in Richmond -on -Thames where he lived for 15 years.Later in life he returned to Scotland, living in Thorntonhill,Lanarkshire.Fine draughtsman,sensitive to the moods and fabrics of townscapes.Exhibited mainly at RSA,RSW,GI but also at RBA and elsewhere.Represented in DundeeAG,Glasgow AG,Greenock AG,Paisley AG.

The Scott Monument is a Victorian Gothic monument to Scottish author Sir Walter Scott..It is the second largest monument in the world after the Jose Mart monument in Havana.The tower is 200 feet 6 inches and gas viewing platforms reached by a series of spiral staircases giving panoramic views of central Edinburgh and it’s surroundings.The highest platform is reached by a total of 287 steps.
