An unusual antique Spanish faience grotesque lizard handled pottery oil bottle dating from the 19th century. Possibly Alcora the bottle stands on a narrow rounded and unglazed foot with a shaped neck and an unusual bird form head to the top with a single recessed pouring hole and with a lizard handled attached to the side of the neck, the tail resting on the body. The bottle is hand painted with typical Spanish designs including a bull, a church like building and a wading bird. Painted in colors on a yellow ground with blue patterned banding above and below and similar patterning to the neck. The bottle is not marked.
In good condition with some minor chipping along the top edge of the handle. There is no stopper but expect this was simply a cork.
