Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A flintlock pistol is a firearm that uses a flint-striking ignition mechanism, introduced in the early 17th century and widely utilized until the mid-19th century. The mechanism generates a spark by striking a piece of flint against a steel frizzen to ignite gunpowder.

These historical items were typically manufactured with forged iron or steel barrels and lock mechanisms, set into dense hardwood stocks such as walnut or mahogany. Secondary fittings, known as furniture, were frequently cast in brass, iron, or silver.

Authentic pieces generally display period maker marks, arsenal stamps, or official proof marks etched into the barrel or lockplate. Inspection of the internal lockwork, hand-cut screws, hand-carved wood channels, and natural oxidisation patterns helps establish age.

Flintlock pistols are frequently styled inside glazed shadow-box frames, mounted on bespoke brass stands atop a desk, or arranged on library shelving alongside antique leather-bound volumes.

Metal components require light application of microcrystalline wax or gun oil to prevent corrosion, whilst the wooden stock should be kept in a climate-controlled environment away from direct heat sources to prevent cracking.
