Two substantial and comfortable country ladder-back rush seat armchairs. One early 19th century example, probably from Lancashire and made from elm. The other, an 18th century example made from fruit wood, of slightly plainer form and lighter colour (slightly more comfortable).
Condition:
The Lancashire elm chair has various old repairs and slight movement in the joints. The fruit wood chair is in good condition, with one splice repair to the arm but no movement in the joints. Both have had the seats re-rushed at some point quite recently. Generally ready to be used.
Dimensions:
Fruit wood chair:
110 cm high x 44 cm seat height x 64 cm wide x 54 cm deep
Elm chair:
110 cm high x 42 cm seat height x 67 cm wide x 53 cm deep
