Description

It's the back of this old salt-bag (namakdan) that I love best of all.

Firstly, the beautiful shade of sky-blue in the horizonal bands and secondly, the charming camel-caravan with the small stylized figure leading on the right, depicted in the upper ivory band,

The other three horizontal ivory bands contain stylised dogs I guess, guarding the tribal encampment.

The front face is woven in very intricate soumak technique in what I can only say is typical Kordi design. A very charming salt-bag, once used for containing lumps of rock-salt and nuts, and made during the first quarter of the twentieth century.
