Fowey River Antiques has dated this piece to the 1890s.
~~ original condition throughout ~~
This is a beautiful condition mantel clock by the famous French clockmaker Japy Freres.
The case is most unique made of black marble and the design of Greek mythology.

As you would expect from Japy Freres it has a fine high grade French movement which is fully marked. It is totally original and has just been serviced by Alan Williams of Plymouth Clocks, a Fellow of the British Horological Institute, so is in tip top condition and should give trouble free service for many years to come.

It comes with its original pendulum and a key.
It runs for over 8 days between winding and strikes on the hour and half hour on a coiled gong
This clock dates from about 1880 and has obviously been highly prized and looked after, the condition is a credit to its previous owners with only a chip to the rear of the clock which is photographed but this in no way detracts from the piece.

It is incredibly heavy!
The clock movement comes with a full 12 month warranty.
