A fine set of 3 antique Georgian sterling silver dessert spoons made by Paul Storr and hallmarked in London 1816.
The Coburg pattern was designed for Paul Storr around 1811 and because of the ornate decoration the spoons have been made with a heavy gauge of silver (each spoon weighs over 2 ozs). The decoration is to the front and reverse is extensive and culminates in an attractive shell to the reverse of the bowl. There are scrolled initials to the reverse and hallmarks are clear and identical. The spoons are in very good condition with no repair or damage.
Paul Storr is regarded as the finest English silversmith of the 19th century and Coburg pieces first designed for him are sought after.
