Victorian Silver Card Case 1885

A fabulously decorated SOLID SILVER CARD CASE made by the well-known silversmiths, Hilliard & Thomason in 1885.

Of shaped oblong form with a superb overall foliate scrollwork engraving design and a cartouche on one side carrying the family crest of a former owner with French moto inscription: Soyez Sage Et Simple – Be Wise & Simple. (Probably belonged to the Spry family, Gerrans, Cornwall.

The inside is fitted with green baize and the Card Case closes tightly, is of a size that can still be used with today's business / credit cards etc. and with very few signs of wear or use this lovely piece is in superb condition despite being over 135 years old.

This is a real collector's item which would complement any collection.
