A fine quality Edwardian period inlaid mahogany display cabinet by the prestigious firm of cabinet makers Edwards and Roberts of London. Made from the highest grade of solid mahogany with attractive mahogany veneers. Decorated with inlaid stringing throughout and foliate detailing to the freeze and drawer fronts. The glazed top section has a pair of doors (lockable, key supplied) which open to access a shelved and lined interior. The base is of serpentine fronted form and has a pair of drawers fitted with their original solid brass handles. All standing on long, elegant out swept legs, united by an under-tier. Sympathetically repolished to a very high standard and now offered for sale in excellent condition, ready to go straight into the home.

Edwards & Roberts was founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp. Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu.
