Unusual Antique English Oak & Silver Plated Egg Cruet by John Grinsell & Sons

Description

Dating to the late Victorian period, around 1890 /1900, this is certainly an unusual example of an Oak and silverplated egg cruet with each egg cup turned from solid Oak and together with the silver strapping almost look like coopered barrels. The interior of each egg cup is lined and gilded.

The base too is made from solid Oak and mounted with silver plate and stands on shield shaped feet which also can act as a cartouche which could be engraved if desired.

Again unusually, the spoons are the original ones to the set all marked John Grinsell & Sons matching the stand.

Excellent condition, the the stand has a base diameter measuring 6" and stands 7 1/2" tall.
