Late 19thc Oriental Camphorwood Trunk

19th century
Description

A very pleasing Oriental (probably Chinese) camphorwood trunk dating to the latter half of the 19thc - probably around 1870-1900. The trunk has the most attractive chestnut colour, a superb grain in the wood and, with polishing, has come up with a rich and vibrant patina. It has an oriental style front catch (bar for the loops is absent) and a pair of large oriental style brass handles. Being camphorwood, the trunk exudes the exhilarating scent of camphor when opened. Perfect as a storage trunk, ottoman or coffee table.
