Gatsby Jewellery Ltd has dated this piece to the 1960s.
Although both of the larger opal have matching black background colour and incredible plays of colour, the pattern on each slightly varies; one presents broader, ribbon-style flashes colour; the other more of a “pin-fire” effect. A wonderful and dramatic pair of earrings.

Cut – Oval cabochon opal. The top diamonds are transitional cuts, the middle diamonds are old mine cuts.
Colour – The diamonds are G to J.

Clarity – The top diamonds are I1. The middle diamonds are SI1.
Carat – The top diamonds are approximately 0.37 carat each, with a total approximate diamond weight of 0.91 carat. Each of the larger opal is approximately 0.60 carat, with a total approximate opal weight of 1.50 carat.
Circa – 1960.
Measurements – The earrings are 34.5mm carat long.
Metal – 18k white gold. Tested.
