Description

This super LARGE PAIR OF VICTORIAN BLACK & WHITE STAFFORDSHIRE DOGS, with gilt collars, chains and padlocks, date from circa 1860.

They are marked with a Number 1 in relief to the base, which indicates their size. They also bear a Decorator's Mark in red.

These dogs have presence. They are well-modelled and painted, especially the muzzles and tails.

The condition is good. There is an old hairline to the back at the base and a tiny nick to a foot of one dog and a small, surface chip to the base at the back of the other. There is no restoration.
