Description

A truly gorgeous Victorian burr walnut box containing a beautiful set of 18 silver plated dessert knives and forks. The burr walnut box has a lustrous patina and colour, with an inset shield with initials JM. It has a key. The lid contains a padded navy blue cushion with a paper label for the Glasgow retaikers. The silver plated knives and forks are set in 3 trays of 6 pairs. They are pristine and have ornately decorated handles and shafts. Each one bears the makers initials EM. To find 18 place settings is very unusual, especially in such good condition, and it is an impressive set.
