Walking Stick Cane 1905 Hallmarked Solid Silver Golf Ball Pommel Ebony Shaft

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Shires Antiques

Lovely ebony wood and hallmarked silver walking stick or cane.
The pommel sits into a silver collar and is made to resemble a golf ball with it's hand finished dimple effect.
The collar is engraved COLOMBO 1905, Colombo is the capital of Sri Lanka so this could be a memento of a visit.
The silver was assayed in London as shown in the pictures, date letter for 1905
and makers mark for William Bert & Co and retailers mark for Benjamin Cox.
It measures 89.5 cm 35 1/4 inches in length, the pommel is 3.9 cm 1 1/2 inches wide and 5.3 cm 2 1/8 inches including the collar.
The ferrule is original and made of polished black buffalo horn.
It's in excellent condition but with some signs of age and
use as you'd expect at this age.
Some bumps to the silver as shown but no holes or splits.
