In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
Two pulls support the front which opens to reveal a series of small pigeon holes and drawers and a small central cupboard with a naive inlaid bird design. It is an excellent quality piece with oak lined dove-tailed drawers that open smoothly and it comes with its original working key for the sloped front.

It is in good condition for its age and the mahogany has developed a wonderful rich colour over the years. It has been cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina. There are general signs of age and use, some old knocks, marks and a few small repairs but no major damages and the piece is strong and sturdy. The interior is in good condition with a few old surface marks and a few small losses to the inlaid decoration on the door and it lacks some of the arched mouldings above the pigeon holes but nothing detrimental. There are some signs of historic woodworm in the carcass which has all been treated as a precaution.
