Description

Very smart French walnut and marble top secretaire abattant or writing bureau c.1910. Open the fall front (disguised with three dummy drawer fronts) to make a 25" x 19" desk (height 30?) with a gilt tooled black leather writing surface within an ebony surround and supported with unusual chromed stays. Fitted interior in sparkling birdseye maple veneers with an open bookshelf and four small stationery drawers. Original rouge griotte marble top and a slim frieze drawer above the bureau and three good sized drawers below. Walnut veneers laid in a quarter symmetrical pattern across the front and sides with raised moudings. Carved detail to the shoulders over fluted front corners. Shaped and moulded apron, continued on the sides and raised on scrolling acanthus carved front feet. Oak drawer linings and back panel. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
