Description

A quite stunning and unusual heavy bowl, perfect for fruit, candy or pot pourri or just an exquisite centrepiece.

The bowl stands on four legs which join circular plinth on which the bowl stands, Art Nouveau inspired with their organic lines. There are still signs of a more typical Victorian design, I would classify this piece as transitional.

The interior of the bowl is beautifully gilded, in super condition. Top-quality is evident all around and understood when turned upside down to find out the maker was the famous Mappin & Webb, highly sought-after. This mark was used around 1890, making this a late Victorian example.

An impressive piece in excellent condition, measuring 8 1/2" across the rim and standing 6 3/4" tall.
