Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Before 1700 period.
The lid lifts to reveal a candle box to the interior and what appears to be its original lock and escutcheon. A really good example with a pleasing colour and good details, it is also a relatively small size at 103cm wide and has good height in its legs.

Really good original warm patina to the oak. It is solid and sturdy with wear and marks commensurate with age. An interesting old cast iron strap to one leg which is solid. Some evidence of old worm to one of the front panels, with a small gap. Interior till formerly lidded.
