Description:
A good one quart tankard, Old English Wine Standard capacity; bearing the mark ''TB'' believed to be Thomas Bankes of Wigan, England who worked 1706-1724.
The straight sided body has a low single fillet and stands on a slightly flared foot. The double dome lid has a ram''s horn thumbpiece, the curve handle has cut-card decoration to the top and a boot-heel terminal. The inner base is clearly marked with the makers mark for ''TB''.
Provenance:
Sold Bonham''s 22.01.2015 as lot 158.
Bonham''s state that the old paper label and marked No.6 may refer to Christopher Peal.
The are other numerous collector''s labels attached to the base.

Condition:
Excellent condition with a lightly polished silver grey finish and some small traces of light oxide.
Repairs: There are no repairs that I could detect.
