Magnificent Antique English Boulle Photograph Frame C.1880

Description

Rare to find these English Boulle frames (cut brass inlaid to tortoiseshell), especially in such spectacular condition (see also item # 32211 for the smaller portrait example), they look quite wonderful together.

This harder to find landscape example has an oval vacant cartouche at the top, which could be personalized by your local engraver if desired, perhaps for a special celebration or presentation gift.

The backing is made from mahogany and stands on it's folding easel stand; the central panel slides down to change the photograph.

A very special piece dating to the Victorian era, around 1880 remaining in impressive condition; measuring in total 7 1/2" wide x 6 3/4" tall with a glazed aperture measuring 5" x 3 1/2".
