Antique Scottish Pewter 1 Pint Measure By J Moyes, Edinburgh 1851 - 1891.

Description:
 
A good 1 pint measure by James Moyes of Edinburgh, Scotland; who worked 1851-1891. Moyes was the last working Edinburgh Pewterer. The measure is of classic form with a straight sided body standing on a flared foot, the body has ovolo banding just above the lower handle terminal. The handle is of curved form with typical ''ball and drop'' terminal used by Moyes. The measure is substantial and very well made.
 
There is a clear makers mark to the inside of the base along with a verification mark for Edinburgh and a pint label to the rim.
 
The base is scratched engraved with an owners name and address, i can just make out the following:

Bt..land
 
Fife.
 
There is also a scratched ''1/2'' in front of the pint label.
 
Verification marks:
 
Cr VR 3 Edinburgh.
 
Condition:
 
Excellent condition with a lightly polished silver grey finish and some small traces of light oxide.
 
Repairs: There are no repairs that I can detect.
