Description
Mafrash panels woven by Kordi nomads in the Quchan region of north-east Persia are rare. This panel, woven around 1870-1880, was once one of two long side panels used to produce large storage bags called 'mafrash'. I love the way the weaver has created a star-like pattern on a deep indigo-blue field - the stars in beautiful natural shades of yellow, ivory, red and coral. Size: 1.14m x 0.47m (3' 9" x 1' 6"). Viewing by appointment only. Internal Ref: BM/Kordi Panel
