Description
A superb and generously proportioned Regency period sofa table, having an attractively grained mahogany top with satinwood cross banding and drop flaps to the ends, above a frieze with two oak lined drawers to the front and two dummy drawers to the rear, all having pressed brass knob handles embossed with figures of birds, and raised on turned baluster column end supports united by a stretcher, with sabre legs terminating in brass ‘lion’s paw’ castors. Circa 1820. Height 27 ½” (70cm) Width (closed) 44” (112cm) Width (open) 71” (180cm) Depth 24” (61cm) Condition and Details of Restoration: This table is in original untouched structural condition and completely sound. It has been repolished and had the brass work cleaned, by our own craftsmen, by hand in the traditional manner. There are old marks underneath the polish as might be expected on an example of this age; in our opinion the photographs are representative. Internal Ref: PJ1144
