Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in 18th-century Britain, a George III mahogany tea table is characterised by a fold-over leaf top designed to rest flat against a wall when closed or open for serving tea. These pieces typically incorporate neoclassical design elements, such as fluted square legs, carved friezes, and rosettes.

Dense West Indian mahogany was the primary timber choice due to its stability, dark grain, and suitability for crisp carving. Internal framing and secondary structures often utilised native softwoods such as pine or oak.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, original secondary timbers, and evidence of hand-planing on unseen interior surfaces. Genuine period examples also exhibit natural oxidisation on unvarnished wood surfaces and historic wear surrounding moving gate-leg hinges.

Positioned against a wall as a console table, it creates a focal surface for lamps, ceramic vessels, or framed artwork. Extending the fold-over top transforms it into a functional surface for entertaining or display in dining rooms and entry halls.

Maintain stable humidity levels to prevent timber shrinkage or joint separation. Dust regularly with a clean cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish periodically, avoiding modern aerosol cleaners that alter original finishes.
