Description

A superb quality late 19th century French rosewood bureau plat in the Louis XV style. Of generous proportions and of excellent construction with attractive rosewood veneers onto a solid oak carcas. Inset with further panels of walnut and mahogany veneers and decorated with profuse floral marquetry inlay. Embellished with crisply cast ormolu mounts throughout. The serpentine shaped top is inset with a sumptuous dark blue leather writing surface complete with gilt tooled decoration. The top surrounded by a bronze banding to the edges. With a series of 3 drawers to the freeze, oak lined, (lockable , key supplied) and 3 dummy drawers to the reverse. All standing on elegant cabriole legs fitted with stunning ormolu espagnolettes, beeding and terminating in sabots.
