Large Chinese Soapstone Sculpture of a Pair of Parrots.

This highly decorative large hand-carved sculpture of a pair of parrots sitting on a log whilst looking at each other is most unusual. It is carved from multiple pieces of different coloured soapstones and mother of pearl which have been creatively used to replicate the beautiful colours of parrots. The eyes are made from glass and are so realistic. The legs and feet are made from bronze and are permanently fixed in place. The base is made from a polished harder stone, possibly marble and has square polished edges.
