Aramis Antiques has dated this piece to the 1870s.
The top has a chamfered edge decorated with ebonised triangles. Further down are a set of horizontal strips of inlaid mahogany and boxwood. The brass handle is typical of the Aesthetic era and turns to lock/unlock the door. All in all a decorative but useful, and interesting, piece.
Height including upstand is 83cm.
