The Strainer has a deep circular bowl which is pierced with plain roundels to simulate a flower head. The two beautifully shaped side Handels are pierced with scroll work and one side is engraved with a contemporary cipher. The strainer is in quite excellent condition, with good colour, and is fully marked in the bowl. This has not been affected by the piercing and each of the handles is marked with the Leopards head erased. This is an early date to find a fruit strainer as Queen Anne examples are virtually non-existent. With regard to the maker, although registered as a small worker, it appeared that he also specialised in Silver mounts for prayer books etc. He had workshops in Noble Street, where this strainer was made.
Length: 6.5 inches.
Diameter of the bowl: 3.1 inches.
Weight 3.5 oz.
Year: 1715
