These former oil lamps have been professionally restored and converted to electricity. The heavy gauge bronze castings are of good quality and the restoration process has achieved a pleasing and striking contrast between the repatinated and re-gilded bronze elements. The wick turning mechanism has been brazed into place and is now purely decorative. The roundels to the handles feature the mask of Hermes (Mercury) and the quatreform dagger like uprights to the main body have putti herms in profile to either side and are joined by a band of fruiting garlands. The base is supported by clawed griffin feet inset to the corners and raised on circular plinths.
The approximate height to the top of the bulb holder is 52.5cms, 43cms to the top of the lamp and 39cms to the top of the handle. The distance to the outer edge of the circular plinths to the base is some 14.3cms
All electrical elements are new and the lamps are being wired with new 3 core, double insulated Italian 'vintage' style black twisted fabric braided flex and a black plug. The lamps will be PAT tested prior to despatch and certification will be provided.
Condition. The lamps have been fully restored as described above.
