This is a fabulous longcase clock made by Ralph Weston of County Durham dated to around 1760.
The hood retains its original glass which has that slight rippling effect and has shaped inlay with diamond motifs and bullseye discs of ebony and satinwood, this theme is carried on through to the trunk and base which also has fine mahogany crossbanding. It also has fully working lock and key.
The clock dial is of solid brass with the decorative spandrels and of course it is fully marked Ralph Weston.
It has a 30 hour movement, strikes on the hour and is keeping good time. The movement has been striped, cleaned and serviced and it comes with its original weight and pendulum.
Ralph Weston Senior was working in Wolsingham, County Durham between 1722 - 1777 and judging by the the design, size and proportion this clock dates to his period. He also had a son who worked from 1760 - 1812 and a nephew between 1780 - 1838.
The clock movement comes with a full 12 month warranty, full setting up instructions and telephone help if required.
