Framed oil on canvas signed Armand Apol (1891 - 1950). The painting shows a cottage in amongst a variety of trees. The artist has uses a fresh bright palette. It is mounted in a simple wooden gilt frame. The painting dates from around

Apol was a student of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels (1891-1901) and studied under Constant Montald . From 1901, participated in the exhibitions of the Sillon group in Brussels. He also spent some time in Switzerland.

His painting is characterized by a tendency towards figuration, evolving towards luminism , He was also strongly influenced by Fauvism.
