Antique Miniature Double Playing Card Box - English Sterling Silver 1900

Description

A charming and highly decorative playing card box measuring just 1 1/2" square x 2 1/8" tall. The box has all over repousse decoration with a central vacant cartouche in the centre of the domed lid, which could be engraved by your silversmith if desired.

The hinged lid fits well and when opened reveals two sets of (new replacement) miniature playing cards.

The box is hallmarked for Birmingham 1900, late Victorian in era. The makers mark JD over WD can also be seen for James Deakin & Sons - John & William Deakin.

Excellent condition with minor wear commensurate with age.
