Silver Claret Jug 1889

Description

A Silver Claret Jug.

The silver mounted claret jug with a scrolling gadroon decorated domed lid, opening with a leaf decorated thumb grip. The lid fitting over the silver collar, decorated with leaves and fruits, surrounding scrolled cartouches and fronted by gently curved spout. The scrolled handle decorated with enfolding leaves. The glass body with rounded shoulders, tapering inward and downward to the circular foot.

Hallmarked for Walter & Charles Sissons, Sheffield, 1889.

Width 6 3/4 inches, 17cm.
