Description

This unique pair of Victorian solid silver salt cellars were made by silversmith Daniel & John Wellby in London, 1886.

A Unique Antique Pair of Solid Silver Salt Cellars, Pedestal Design - Daniel & John Wellby 1886

The set remains in excellent condition with a beautiful gilt top bowl, a gadrooned band beneath the bowl and fine engravings along the neck/base of the foot.

The gilding not only provides an aesthetical purpose but prevents the oxidation of silver from the contents that may be placed upon the cellars. Suggested uses: Salt, pepper, spices, condiments of your choice.

Full English hallmarks are present on the side of the bases of both pieces.

A compact yet collectable set of salts, ideal for display on a dining table to spice up your interior decor with a hint of silver & gold sparkles and Victorian aesthetics.
