A Solid Silver Gilt Tazza with Chased Motifs - Lambert & Co 1907

1900 - 1920
Description

This striking piece of solid silverware was made by silversmith Lambert & Co (Herbert Charles Lambert) in Coventry Street, London 1907.

The whole tazza has been fully gilt with a lustrous gold plate on top of the solid silver, adding a rich and luxurious tone to the overall appearance in addition to the practical benefit of preventing the silver from oxidising.

The top 'dish' portion of the tazza has been finely engraved on the rim depicting a variety of shapes and fruits. The midsection features a baluster shaped neck which terminates with a flared and widened foot. The base features an array of ornate chased motifs that compliments the engraved motifs on the dish itself.

A tazza is originally an Italian word for a cup, however, in the context of such silverware, it may be used for multiple uses such as displaying small items of food, sweets (as a bonbon dish) or as a display piece by itself.

In hand, the heavy and thick gauge of quality silver can be felt with this piece, making for an ideal piece to steadily stand on your dining table/side table to hold any item of your preference with no worries about it toppling over.

The piece is fully hallmarked on the side of the dish.

A fabulous piece of gilt silverware with no gilding loss or damage, ideal for adding a hint of gold to a silver collection or as a wonderful singular piece to brighten up your interior.

Fully gilt tazza in excellent condition.

Intricate hand engraved and chased design.

Unique baluster shaped neck with a steady base, ideal for practical usage.
