Antique English Cut Crystal and Sterling Silver Double Inkwell - 1901

Description

A stunning desk accessory, this handsome inkwell is made from a heavy piece of crystal beautifully cut on the underside in the ever-popular hobnail design.

There are channels cut on top of the glass, one long horizontal one to sit one's dip pen in and two smaller one's each side where spare nibs would have sat.

The ink chambers are topped with solid or sterling silver domed lids each hallmarked for the highly collectible Chester assay office and the year 1901, making this an early Edwardian piece. The makers initials are also present N & H for Nathan & Hayes - George Nathan & Ridley Hayes.

Excellent condition without damage measuring 4 1/2" x 2 1/2".
